What kind of diet plan should a covid-19 patient follow if they are advised home quarantined?
Diet plan is all depend on your age and immunity, If you are below 25 years of age you recover by your own, By taking good diet. And for more than 60 years of age people have to take care of them self by their own as well as psychological support of family is very important, protect yourself by using mask, hand gloves and other PPE (personal protective equipment's). Precautions we use for common cold is the only treatment you have to use for covid 19 too. Covid 19 is not a big problem as we are facing common cold flue since our childhood and parents provide us steam inhalation, hot water, kadha’s and all. This must be the greatest things which you can use it daily. For me as a medical field student, as i saw in the hospitals that they are just looting common peoples, moreover Rich peoples are getting more positive results in covid 19 instead of poor or average ones.
A part from this, I would suggest you for covid 19 the most usable technique which we Indian usually does according to Ayurveda and said by our grand parents.
1. Have 3 times steam inhalation this will allow your mucous thin and not make it stagnant in your lungs.
2. Regularly use hot water to drink, as we can see it is winter and more susceptible to common cold.
3. Have a kadha instead of having milk tea or coffee. The preparation of kadha can be done by: take a tea pan add 2 glass of water start boiling it, now add 4 black pepper, 2 cloves, 0.5cm cinnamon stick, half teaspoon carrom seeds, half teaspoon fennel seeds, 1 full teaspoon honey, 1cm grated ginger, 4cm red jaggery, 6–8 tulsi leaf. Now boil the whole thing and make it half cup, and have it 2 or 1 times a day. don't have this kadha more than 2 times it may cause liver damage.
4. In the morning, you can have your breakfast with common food you have like upma, pohe, oats whatever you eat, there is no restrictions in food, just keep in mind, donot consume refrigerated food as it directly affect your lungs, have meal that is freshly prepared & cooked in the gas as soon as possible. If we think scientifically, when the food is ready, we should have meal within 3 hours of the cooking process. “Make fresh food and eat fresh food”
5. Try to have “sattvic food” these foods have more nutrients as compare to other food. Skip rice, white sugar, cold drinks, Maida foods from your diet. If you are a sweet lover than you can use jaggery or brown sugar instead of white sugar.
6. Add vitamin C rich foods in your diet i.e. lemon, tomatoes, green leafy foods (Spinach) etc. or else you can take vitamin C tablets. Avoid packed foods like (mixture, bread, chips, biscuits).
This article gives very good knowledge regarding prevention of infectious diseases by boosting our Immunity Eventhough daily exercise is missing.
